  COURSE 722 COURSE SYNOPSIS

Ergonomics Program Management

Course Description: This presentation will help the and safety staff develop and evaluate an effective ergonomics program for your company. The benefits to your organization’s corporate culture will be significant and long term. Ergonomics programs should not be regarded as separate from those intended to address other workplace hazards. Aspects of hazard identification, case documentation, assessment of control options, and health care management techniques that are used to address ergonomic problems use the same approaches directed toward other workplace risks of injury or disease. Although many of the technical approaches described in this course are specific to ergonomic risk factors and MSDs, the core principles are the same as efforts to control other workplace hazards.

Summary of Regulatory Requirements: This training is required by government regulations and/or employer policy (see window below) for all employees who may be exposed to hazards during the normal performance of work duties.

Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this training, given a written exam, scenario, or simulation, the learner will:
  • Describe the basic components of an effective ergonomics program
  • Conduct a basic workstation ergonomics analysis
  • Identify personal, job, and environmental ergonomic risk factors in two different work environments
  • Condjuct a basic Ergonomics Job Hazard Analysis
  • List at least three methods for controlling risk factors in your workplace
  • Discuss medical management requirements
  • Describe the requirements for an effective Ergonomics Education and Training Program
Note: Some of the learning objectives must be completed on site.

Written Exam/Skill Demonstration:
  • Written Test. 5-10 question module quizzes. 25 question final exam. Student must achieve 70% score. Three attempts allowed.
  • Skill Demonstration. Conduct mock safety inspection and basic inspection report that identifies at least three hazards and makes recommendations for corrective action and long-term system improvements.

Course Length: Up to one hour per module.

Instructors: Instructors for the online and on-site components of this training must be competent in the subject being presented. A competent person must have completed formal training, should have practical experience, and have written authorization from the employer.

Class size/Location: NA for online training. Classroom or area to accommodate size of class (maximum of 15 learners is recommended). This course may be conducted at any suitable facility.

Documentation: Document training with a training roster signed by the instructor that identifies student, course name, date, location, and testing results. Certificate of completion unique identification information should be placed in student records.
