What we have here, friends and neighbors, is your basic lack of foresight. Which sometimes isn't too bad, except (in this case) when the other parts of the equation are an unwanted pile of leaves and a match.
"I rolled up to this house fire in time to note that the cause appeared to be burning of leaves too close to the structure and no hose in site," our correspondent wrote.
Just a little worst-case-scenario planning would have prevented this little fiasco. Your average nine-year-old could have spotted the hazard.
Oh well, maybe the homeowner wanted to put new siding on that end of the house anyway. And fumigate that room.
