Safety in Healthcare

The OSH Act of 1970 mandates "safe and healthful working conditions" for all workers, including the 1.6 million healthcare professionals employed across various hospitals and personal care facilities nationwide. OSHAcademy recognizes the critical need for specialized safety training for healthcare workers, addressing the numerous occupational health and safety hazards prevalent in this sector.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, for every 100 employees in the healthcare and social assistance industry 4.3 employees were injured in 2021. The healthcare industry is so large the injury rates vary depending on what part of the industry an employee is working in. For example, in physicians offices the injury rate is 2.0 employees for every 100 employees were injured in 2021, in general medical and surgical hospitals 6.1 employees for every 100 employees were injured in 2021, and in ambulance services 10.5 employees for every 100 employees were injured in 2021.

OSHAcademy's online OSHA training for healthcare professionals is carefully designed to meet these diverse needs. Our courses align with OSHA training requirements for healthcare workers, offering an accessible path to safer work environments. OSHAcademy provides free access to our online OSHA training for healthcare professionals, and for a small fee healthcare professionals may purchase training certificates to document their training.
